Global progress towards non-violent childhoods: putting prohibition of corporal punishment of children into practice

The Children at Risk Unit is honored and proud to host the event on the global progress towards non-violent childhoods.

The number of states prohibiting all corporal punishment continues to grow: 62 have now banned violent punishment in all settings of childrenā€™s lives, and 135 have prohibited corporal punishment in schools. But how is a ban put into practice so that violent punishment is eliminated? And what have countries learnt on this journey?

This conference will feature the approach, experiences and learning from countries around the world that have made a commitment to end corporal punishment. We are honoured to hear from government, civil society and academic perspectives, as we learn what works in implementing legislation to end violent punishment.

The conference will also launch the new guidanceĀ Laying the foundation for non-violent childhoods: putting prohibition of corporal punishment of children into practice.
